OUR PLAN
With only 1.6% of global GHG emissions, the actions of Canada will have essentially no impact on the future trajectory of world emissions, let alone climate change. This is especially true given that developing countries, and in particular China, by far the largest GHG emitter, have no real obligation to ever reduce emissions. Under these circumstances, the only sensible climate policy for Canada is to:
-
prepare for future climate change with sensible, cost-effective adaptation strategies;
-
promote economic prosperity so as to provide the wealth we need to ensure resiliency;
-
ensure a reliable, affordable energy supply to maintain our standard of living so as to be able to afford effective environmental programs.
